• Managing Quality Assurance and Testing at the level of a single QA team generally with 5 - 15 members and located in India - with responsibility for the quality of a particular Project of IT change, or of a particular system or functional area. • Line and functional management of permanent team members consisting typically of Test & QA Analysts, and Specialist QA Analysts. Including career, performance and personal development management of team members. • Functional management of seconded team members consisting typically of BPO staff seconded to QA for a 9 month period. Including QA, technical and functional training, support, validation and guidance to these team members. • Taking ownership and accountability for managing your own workload, and that of the team. Maintaining a strong delivery focus both on QA and Project delivery success. Act as a service - providing manager on behalf of the wider QA team to your relevant Project customers. • Leading the liaison with onshore QA (UK) and development (Aus.) functions on behalf of your team. Ensuring the work is well understood offshore, and reporting regularly on progress, risks and issues to the wider Delivery structure. • Proactively driving the application of quality standards and good practice across the IT and Business organisations at management level, acting as an authority and advocate for the IT Quality Assurance strategy, its meaning, benefits and goals. • Taking ownership of your own team s objectives and responsibilities in respect of Quality Assurance across the full Software Delivery Lifecycle, from early Requirements analysis through to conclusion of warranty support post go - live. • Understanding DST Quality Assurance strategy, policy, procedures and standards. Ensuring that these are applied correctly and universally across your area of responsibility, and in each particular Project context. • Acting as an advocate, trainer and mentor for your own team in respect of these methods - and ensuring that they are followed by all team members in all situations. • Providing guidance, assistance and support to team members where required. This may be relating to technical, procedural, or advice on a subject - matter specialism. You can expect a large part of the role to involve this development and mentoring of resources on secondment from our BPO operation . • Planning and reporting on the work of your own team, to a range of stakeholders across the IT and Business organisations. • Resource management for your own team, taking into account a range of demands for work/services. Maintaining a strategy for resourcing the team, flexing its size, and owning any recruitment and additional secondments associated with this resource planning. • Acting as a point of immediate escalation for any risks or issues raised both within your own team, and from any other stakeholder when relating to your team s area of responsibility. • Devising Test Plans and approaches relevant to each particular context which adhere to DST - wide QA standards and also satisfy the requirements of customers within Project teams. • Take ownership, for each distinct QA/Testing assignment, for appropriately ing risk - based testing, so as to provide a service which optimises the balance between quality, timescales, and cost. • Take responsibility for the management of your own team s delivery of assigned work - managing resourcing levels and timescales in order to meet deadlines, monitoring and reporting the progress and quality of all work, working autonomously within the boundaries of the role and seeking guidance, assistance and support where appropriate. • Developing the understanding and skills of your team in respect of a range of testing disciplines in addition to core manual functional test preparation and execution - including test automation and non - functional test disciplines. Working closely with experts in these domains from other specialist QA teams in order to promote and deliver these disciplines. • Managing your own performance, career and personal development - in conjunction with your line manager and in reference to the DST standard frameworks for these. • Managing the performance, career and personal development of all team members in the same respect.
