Job Description

Medline is continuing to experience aggressive growth in the digital commerce space - and operations and support for these applications is critical to the success of the business. With direction from eCommerce and Medline leadership, this person will manage and grow a team of I/S professionals, influence technical strategic direction, interface with counterparts in IS to support eCommerce systems operations. The primary function of the eCommerce Operations/Support Manager is to lead a team that supports and maintains e-commerce systems for Medline.

The Manager of eCommerce Operations must come from the eCommerce space and have a strong technical background in full digital commerce stack including but not limited to eCommerce engines. Challenges will include an ongoing strategic technology expansion; Onboarding and Team building; Vendor Management; Ability to transition the existing team to industry standard DevOps practices; Ability to transform from reactive to proactive approach; Ability to partner with the business in assessing needs and managing expectations for engineering and support solutions for as is and to be states; Ability to partner with Business, Infrastructure and IS leads to support value-creating technology development and ensuring high quality and performance of production systems. Technology stack can be learned but, must have a record of success in operationalizing and supporting a world class ecommerce operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and manage operations team to support high volume business to business (B2B) eCommerce website (medline.com) and various business to consumer (B2C) websites.
  • Ensure the availability, reliability and security of Medline s eCommerce sites
  • Respond to business critical emergency situations related to support of the eCommerce platform
  • Create and execute team work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and priorities as well as provide oversight for project managers and team leads relative to same
  • Support an agile work environment to deliver programs while balancing time, cost and scope
  • Ensure adequate release processes consistently performed to make certain new releases do not threaten the stability and function of the websites affected
  • Support robust change and configuration management practices
  • Drive automation within eCommerce space by collaborating with internal teams and partners in different areas DevOps, Quality Assurance, Test data management, etc.
  • Responsible for staffing, including recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, supervision, development, mentoring, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
  • Assess and address team skill and knowledge gaps to ensure the teams consistently have the knowledge, skills and experience to support Medline s eCommerce systems
  • Assist in managing service integrator and other technology vendor relationships
  • Support the development of business cases, justifications and cost-benefit analysis for IS spend
  • Collaborate with architecture team in devising the best architecture and designs including an emphasis on availability, reliability and security
  • Support programs and projects portfolio to ensure timely and successful delivery
  • Make technology recommendations related to eCommerce environment
  • Work with internal business users to refine Medline s eCommerce operations/support roadmap as well as provide a world class eCommerce platform for realizing this roadmap
  • Develop integrated processes across all eCommerce DevOps functions and collaborate with peers on process for overall processes
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of technical and operational process documentation
  • Additional responsibilities as deemed necessary for the role

Qualifications:

  • BS in computer sciences or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • 3+ years of experience in similar roles managing, supporting eCommerce applications
  • 2+ years experience with Oracle eCommerce Suite (Endeca/ATG) strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • 2+ years of progressive staff management and development experience
  • Exposure to DevOps tools and solutions
  • Previous experience with implementation of e-commerce solutions a plus
  • Understanding of various cloud technologies a plus
  • Demonstrated collaborative skills, experience working in onshore/offsite model and ability to work well within a team
  • Technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to work in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent understanding of data and systems relationships to drive decisions
  • Understanding of diverse application development practices (including both waterfall and agile methodologies) and various release management strategies
  • Strong prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving and planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with and influence senior management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet applications.
